Luffa grows very well here in the low desert of AZ. The vines are beautiful, especially when they're in bloom with the beautiful yellow blossoms. After pollination, the flowers produce the "fruit" which when fully ripened and dried, creates a wonderful natural sponge!
I find that my luffa plants grow best when they get some shade, especially in the late afternoon. During the hottest months I like to add a shade cloth.
These seeds are harvested from my very own plants. They have what it takes to survive the desert with a little loving care!
